The Senior Manager, Product Marketing role at Metaswitch

The successful candidate will report to the Director of Product Marketing for the 4G Product Area, performing a critical role within the product strategy and implementation organization. The 4G team have strategic responsibility for scoping and defining the future direction of our Next Generation Unified Communications Products around Voice and Video calling, messaging and content sharing. Working closely with other members of the product management and product marketing teams as well as other key Metaswitch groups, the successful candidate will lead efforts in the areas of market and competitive analysis, business case development, product feature priorities (product roadmap), go to market strategy and customer engagement.



Responsibilities

This role will involve a combination of product marketing and product management responsibilities, including the following.

  • Lead market and competitive analysis activities in both current markets and adjacent vertical markets leveraging both analyst information and internal intelligence to be used as a basis for all product and strategy decision-making. In addition, understand overall market trends in relevant global markets including Tier 1 service providers, MSO and OTT providers.
  • Performing detailed business case analysis around developing new products, or extending existing products, including critical business skills such as ROI analysis and detailed competitive analysis.
  • Writing Whitepapers and Solution Briefs on industry topics and Metaswitch technology.
  • Delivering presentations to our customers and at industry events and tradeshows.
  • Gathering market and product requirements from our customer base and potential end-users.
  • Creating the market positioning collateral for our products (most often with PowerPoint).
  • Working closely with Product Management peers to feed Product Marketing Requirements into the development priorities.


Qualifications / Experience

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in business, marketing, computer science or a closely related field.
  • Requires 3-4 yrs relevant experience in industry or in further business education.
  • Demonstrable “early adopter” attitude towards new communication technologies and methodologies.
  • Strong technical understanding of telecommunications technologies including IP, SIP, IMS, VoIP, 3GPP/LTE, RCS, Application Servers, Mobile Apps, Cloud based solutions, etc.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills, excellent analytical, planning and process development skills and high level of initiative are all required.
  • The successful candidate will have proven experience of writing compelling documentation (whitepapers, solution briefs) covering technical subject matter.
  • Requires advanced Powerpoint and Excel skills.
  • Experience with mobile application development, platform restrictions, Human Interface Design Principles would be beneficial (for iOS, Android, WP7), along with understanding of the differences between smartphone and tablet variants.
  • Experience with Agile Development Methodology would be beneficial.
  • Experience performing User Experience Testing would be beneficial.


Location

The position will be based out of our San Francisco, California office, and will require a moderate level of international and domestic travel.
