Sales Engineers




Responsibilities

The Sales Engineer (SE) is responsible for developing, designing, and assisting in the sale of our complex telecommunications infrastructure and applications.

The key responsibilities are as follows.

  • Providing pre-sales support to the Sales Executive team; contributing to sales goals to meet divisional revenue targets.
  • Presenting products and staffing booths at customer meetings, trade shows and trade conferences.
  • Delivering technical and architectural responses to RFx documents.
  • Participating in customer network design processes and business case analysis.
  • Assisting/participating in bid/RFP/RFQ processes, and uncovering opportunities.


Requirements

We are ideally looking for someone who has approximately 5 (or more) years experience in Telecoms Sales Engineering.

A thorough understanding of voice and data networking technologies is essential and the following technical expertise is required.

  • Practical experience of selling and/or deploying innovative, large-scale communications solutions over converged networks, including Unified Communications, FMC, or mobile/tablet applications.
  • Understanding of the following:
    • NGN and IMS architecture and protocols, particularly surrounding SIP-AS interaction with CSCF, AG/AGCF and BGCF and subscriber data (HSS) and billing interfaces.
    • SS7 / C7 Networks architecture and protocols.
    • Web 2.0 technologies (XML, SOAP, REST, etc).
    • Network Management: SNMP & network management platforms such as OpenView, etc.
  • Solid background in IP protocols, architecture and network design, for both fixed line and mobile networks.
  • Working knowledge of client-server architectures, database servers and communication servers, especially as it relates to network configurations, optimizations, troubleshooting and diagnostics.
  • Detailed knowledge of Intelligent Networks (INAP/CAMEL/WIN/AIN) or Media Gateway/Media Server protocols for NGN and IMS would be an advantage for some positions.
  • Expert PC skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio and the ability to effectively access and utilize internal and external websites.

Previous experience in Telecom OSS / BSS systems and architectures would also be an advantage.

The successful candidate will have the following personal attributes.

  • Excellent communication skills, with a proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts to all levels of customer management.
  • Good sales instincts and the ability to root out the concerns a customer has that may block a sale.
  • The ability to work well in a team, or independently.
  • Confidence in interacting at all levels within a customer – even to Board level.
  • A BS/BA degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Willingness to travel (moderate to extensive).
  • The ability to coordinate multiple and simultaneous projects effectively, with a calm head when things get tough.


Location and Travel

We are constantly expanding our sales engineering team and geographic coverage and frequently have SE positions available in EMEA, CALA and US.

The successful candidate will be based in one of our main locations in the US or UK, or at a home office, and must be willing to travel regularly within their assigned geographic region. Occasional travel will be required to other regions for major conferences and Sales meetings.
